Figure 4-27. System Board Removal

To remove the system board, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect all cables from their connectors at the back of the system
unit.
2. Remove all expansion cards.
3. Remove the support panel, memory module, and any microprocessor or
termination modules.
4. Disconnect all cables from the system board.
5. Remove the system board as follows:
a. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the vertical wall of
the computer chassis.
b. Pry the board off the snap-top standoffs by inserting a screwdriver or
similar tool between the system board and the vertical wall.
c. Slide the system board toward the front of the computer approximately
inch to release the board from the I/O connector slots on the com-

puter rear panel.
d. Lift the system board out of the computer.
If you are replacing a system board, remove the memory module, the micro-
processor module(s), termination module(s), and any expansion card(s) from
the old system board and install them on the replacement board. Verify that the
jumper and switch settings on the new system board are correct.
