Section 4: Maintenance & Lubrication
Set Belt Tension
Refer to Figure 4-3:

WARNING
To prevent serious injury or death:
Always shut tractor down using "Tractor Shutdown
Procedure" provided in this manual before servicing,
adjusting, cleaning, or maintaining this implement.
Set the belt tension as follows:
1.
Remove fastener bolts, associated washers, and
transmission cover over the belts.
2. Loosen jamb nut (#1) securing thrust rod (#3) and
adjusting nut (#2).
3. Turn adjusting nut (#2) to set the correct tension.
4. Tighten jamb nut (#1).
5. Verify belt tension is correct. Refer to "Check Belt
Tension" on page 47.
6. Replace the cover. Secure cover in place with
removed washers and bolts. Tighten the bolts to the
correct torque.
Replace Belts
Refer to Figure 4-3:

adjusting, cleaning, or maintaining this implement.
IMPORTANT: Measure the tension of all the belts if
possible and calculate the average value.
IMPORTANT: To maintain uniform belt tension, the
belts must always be replaced together as a set and
never individually.
Replace belts when necessary. When replacing belts,
first loosen the belt tension to permit removal of the belts
themselves.
1.
Remove fastener bolts, associated washers, and belt
cover.
2. Loosen jamb nut (#1) securing thrust rod (#3) and
adjusting nut (#2).
3. Loosen the pressure on tensioner roller (#4) by
turning adjusting nut (#2).
4. Remove belts (#5).
5. Fit new belts (#5) on pulleys (#6 & #7) as shown.
6. Turn adjusting nut (#2) to bring the tension roller (#4)
back into contact with the belts (#5) and to set the
belts to the correct tension.

7.
Tighten the jamb nut to the correct torque.
8. Install belt cover, washers, and bolts onto the
transmission housing. Tighten the bolts to the correct
torque.
9. Recheck belt tension after the first few hours of
operation and, subsequently, ever 30 hours or
whenever necessary.
