QSFP+ transceivers
Job aid
Depending on the transceiver manufacturer, QSFP+ transceivers use bail-latch or pull-tab types of
locking and extractor mechanisms.
The following figure shows the pull-tab release mechanism used on Avaya QSFP+ transceivers.
Other release mechanisms do exist. In the following figure, the bore plug remains in the QSFP+.
Pull the tab to release the device, with the fiber connector still attached.
Removing a QSFP+ transceiver
Remove a QSFP+ transceiver to replace it or to commission it elsewhere.

Danger:
Risk of eye injury by laser
Fiber optic equipment can emit laser or infrared light that can injure your eyes. Never look into
an optical fiber or connector port. Always assume that fiber optic cables connect to a light
source.
Electrostatic alert:
Risk of equipment damage
To prevent damage from electrostatic discharge, always wear an antistatic wrist strap
connected to an electrostatic discharge (ESD) jack.
Procedure
1. Grasp the pull-tab and slide the QSFP+ transceiver out of the module QSFP+ slot.
