Traceroute Command

traceroute <IP_name or
address>
T
RACEROUTE
This chapter describes the Traceroute commands accessible from the CLI of the
OfficeConnect Gateway. Traceroute is a program that traces the path a packet
takes to a destination. It is primarily used to debug routing problems between
hosts.
The following tables identifies the Traceroute commands described in this chapter:
Command
Command Name
Type
Traceroute
traceroute <IP_name or address>
Delete
delete traceroute row <number>
List
list traceroute
list traceroute row <number> hops
Show
show traceroute
show traceroute settings
show traceroute row <number> settings
Set
set traceroute maximum_rows <number>
Displays the route (each hop) that a data packet takes from its source to a
specified destination on the network and the time in milliseconds to reach each
hop and return. Traceroute utilizes ICMP to monitor network messages and UDP
to send out the packet. The command also can be implemented from an SNMP
station. Router DNS services are always used to resolve names and/or verify
addresses in dot notation. An address of zero indicates there was no response
from that hop.
The traceroute command has the following parameters:
maxhops <number>
port <UDP port>
retries <retries per hop>
size <data size>
timeout <timeout per hop>
