4.2.7 Removing the Cap Assembly

NOTE: Follow these steps to remove the cap assembly by itself,
without removing the pump. To remove the cap and
pump together, see
"Removing the Cap and Pump
Assembly"
on page 46.
1. Remove the following:
" Upper case as described in
page 40
" Control panel as described in
page 40
" Waste ink tray as described in
on page 45
2. Remove the No. 1 screw securing the cap assembly to the right
side of the printer.
Pump unit
+/- 2 mm

3. Release the hook, shown below, securing the cap assembly to the
inner frame.

4. Remove the ink tube from the cap assembly.

4.2.8 Removing the Carriage Motor Assembly

1. Remove the upper case (see
page 40)
2. Push down the carriage lock lever to release the carriage (see
Figure
4-2). Then slide the carriage to the center.
3. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the space in the pulley
on
tensioning mechanism, as shown below, and turn the screwdriver
to loosen the timing belt. Then remove the belt from the carriage
motor.
