6.9.14 Interfaces

The EPSON Stylus Photo 870/1270 each come equipped with a USB
interface and a bidirectional parallel interface.
6.9.14.1 Parallel Interface (Forward Channel)
! Transmission mode: 8 bit parallel, IEEE-1284 compatibility mode
! Synchronization:By STROBE pulse
! Handshaking: BY BUSY and ACKNLG signal
! Signal level: TTL compatible level
! Adaptable connector: 57-30360 (amphenol) or equivalent
The BUSY signal is HIGH before setting either /ERROR LOW or PE
HIGH, and held HIGH until all these signals return to their inactive
state. The BUSY signal is HIGH:
! During data entry (see Figure 6-21)
! When the input data buffer is full
! When the /INIT signal is LOW or during hardware initialization
! During a printer error condition (see /ERROR signal)
! When the parallel interface is not selected
The /ERROR signal is LOW when one of the following errors occurs:
! Printer hardware error (fatal error)
