Chapter 7: Initial steps using EDM

The initial commissioning steps involve basic setting configuration.
EDM software is bundled with the switch code. However, to access EDM help files, you must install these
separately. For more information about EDM, including instructions for installing the EDM help, see Avaya
Ethernet Routing Switch 8800/8600 User Interface Fundamentals, NN46205-308.
Prerequisites to initial steps using EDM
• You must install the hardware.
• You must install at least one cable to set up a remote connection to the switch.
• You must turn on the switch.
• The switch must be configured with an IP address.
• Connect to the switch IP address using one of the following browsers:
- Mozilla Firefox, version 3.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 7.0
Log on to EDM using rwa/rwa/GlobalRouter as the default credentials.
Important:
If you configured a username and password for Web server access in a previous
release, these configured values remain unchanged in this release. To access EDM,
use these previously configured username and password values. In this case, the user:
admin and password: password default values do not apply.
