PRECAUTIONS FOR OPERATION
Run the engine at low idle and drive the machine slowly at low speed.
No not operate any levers when on the ramps.
Never correct your steering on the ramps. If necessary, drive off the ramps onto the ground, correct the di-
rection, then enter the ramps again.
The center of gravity of the machine shifts suddenly at the joint between the ramps and the trailer, and it is
dangerous that the machine loses its balance. Travel slowly over this point.
When loading or unloading to an embankment or platform, make sure that it has suitable width, strength,
and grade.
When swinging the upper structure on the loading platform, lower the work equipment, retract it, and per-
form the operation slowly.
Fold mirrors and antenna.
For the method of folding the mirrors and antenna, see "METHOD FOR ADJUSTING MIRRORS (3-165)"
and "STOW ANTENNA (3-230)".
For machines with cab, always close the door after the machine has been loaded. The door may open dur-
ing transportation.
For details, see "TRANSPORTATION (3-231)".
When it is necessary to remove handrails and steps, take care not to lose removed handrails and steps.
Install the removed handrails and steps securely.

TOWING AND BEING TOWED

PRECAUTIONS FOR TOWING
Always use the correct towing equipment and towing method. Any mistake in the selection of the wire rope or
drawbar or the method of towing a failed machine and being towed may lead to serious personal injury or death.
For details concerning towing, see OPERATION "PRECAUTIONS FOR TOWING THE MACHINE ".
Always confirm that the wire rope or drawbar used for towing has ample strength for the weight of the ma-
chine being towed.
Never use the wire rope which has cut strands (A), re-
duced diameter (B), or kinks (C). There is a danger that
the rope may break during the towing operation.
Wear the leather gloves always when handling the wire
ropes.
Never tow a machine on a slope.
During the towing operation, never stand between the tow-
ing machine and the towed machine.

LIFTING OPERATION BY USING BUCKET WITH HOOK

PRECAUTIONS FOR LIFTING OPERATIONS
Falling of a raised load or the overturning of the machine can cause serious injury or death. Always observe the
followings.
Do not perform lifting work on slopes, soft ground, or other places where the machine is not stable.
Use wire rope that conforms to the specified standard.
Determine the signals to be used and place a signalman in position.
Prohibit anyone to enter into place where there is danger of contact with a raised load or the danger from a
falling load.
It is dangerous if a raised load hits any person or structure. When swinging or operating the work equip-
