MAINTENANCE
If the filter cartridge is fastened too much, the packing will be damaged and this leads to leakage of fuel. If
the filter cartridge is too loose, fuel will also leak from the packing. Be sure to observe the tightening angle.
When tightening by using a filter wrench, be extremely careful not to dent or damage the filter.
11. Check that the drain valve (3) is tightened securely.
12. Turn the valve (2) to OPEN position (O).
13. After completing the replacement of filter cartridge (5), bleed air according to the following procedure.
1)
Fill up the fuel tank with fuel (to the level where the float is at the highest position).
2)
Loosen the knob of feed pump (9), pull it out, then
pump it in and out until the movement becomes
heavy.
REMARK
• It is not necessary to remove the plugs at the fuel pre-
filter head and at the fuel main filter head.
• When the engine runs out of fuel, use the same proce-
dure to operate the feed pump (9) and bleed the air.
14. After bleeding air, push in the knob of feed pump (9) and
tighten it.
15. After replacing the filter cartridge (5), start and run the engine at low idle for 10 minutes.
16. Check for leakage of oil from the filter seal surface and transparent cup mounting face.
If there is any leakage, check the tightening condition of the filter cartridge.

METHOD FOR CHECKING SWING PINION GREASE

1.
Remove the 2 nuts (1) and the cover (2).
2.
Check that the grease is not milky white or too liquid.
• If the grease is milky white, this means that liquid (eg
water) has emulsified with it and its lubrication capaci-
ty has decreased.
• If the grease has become fluidic and thereby runs
from the hole, this means it has been contaminated
with oil.
Ask your Komatsu distributor to replace it.
3.
Install the cover (2) with the nuts (1).

METHOD FOR LUBRICATING SWING CIRCLE

Prepare a grease pump.
1.
Clean the grease nipples and applying the greasing pump.
2.
Inject grease in all grease nipples (No. 4).
3.
After greasing, wipe off any old grease that is pushed out.
