1000BASE-T SFP specifications

The 1000BASE-T SFP provides gigabit Ethernet connectivity using a single eight-pin RJ-45
connector. The 1000BASE-T SFP generally operates at 1 Gigabit per second (1 Gb/s) and
does not support 100BASE-T or 10BASE-T interfaces. However, multispeed support has been
added specifically for ERS 5632FD in Release 6.6. The part number for this model is
AA1419043-E6.
Multispeed support for ERS 5632FD in Release 6.6
Release 6.6 includes support for the ERS 5632FD to set multiple speeds (10 Mbps (half/full
duplex), 100Mbps (half/full duplex), 1000Mbps (full duplex)) on copper SFPs, identified as
AA1419043 with a suffix of either -E5 or -E6.
To enable or disable multispeed operation, use the ACLI command: [no] copper-sfp
multispeed enable.
To view the status of the multispeed capability, use the ACLI command: show copper-sfp
multispeed.
To display a list of copper SFP devices and their multispeed capability, use the ACLI command:
show copper-sfp device-capability.
SFPs will display as either Fixed Speed or Multispeed. Devices that are not speed
programmable display as Fixed Speed. When multispeed control is disabled, all parts display
as Fixed Speed. If it is not possible to program an SFP for multispeed operation, it displays as
Fixed Speed and the SFP is set to 1000Mbps full duplex.
Considerations
The autonegotiation capabilities for copper ports are expanded to include all of the possible
settings. You can view these settings via the ACLI show auto-negotiation-advertisements
port <ports> and show auto-negotiation-capabilities port <ports> commands.
Disabling and enabling the multispeed control causes reprogramming of installed parts, so link
up and down events may be logged depending on logging settings.
When you set a switch or stack to default settings, all port settings are reset. After boot, the
switch recognizes installed SFPs and changes the port settings for the installed part operation.
Therefore, a display of the running configuration may display settings that are different from
the default settings.
