Setting the operating mode

The autoloader can operate in either random or sequential mode. In random mode,
the tape cartridges are moved into the tape drive according to the commands of a
control program. In sequential mode, the tape cartridges are used in sequential
order. The default mode that the autoloader comes configured to use is random
mode.
Sequential mode can be configured to use the Restart option and Loop option.
Changing from Random mode to Sequential mode
To change the autoloader from Random to Sequential mode, complete the
following steps:

Option Description
Restart The Reset option determines what the autoloader will do after it is reset or the
power is turned off and then on. To have the autoloader start at the beginning
of the cartridge sequence, select ON. To have the autoloader start with the
cartridge that was being used before the power interruption occurred, select
OFF.
Loop The reset option will determine what the autoloader does after it has used the
last tape cartridge in the sequence. To have the autoloader start using the first
cartridge again, select ON. To have the autoloader wait for operator
intervention, select OFF. Operator intervention typically means removing the
cartridges and inserting new cartridges.
