Chapter 5. Using the media
The 87691VX Tape Autoloader uses data cartridges with VXA technology for
saving and restoring system data. It only supports VXA X tape cartridges. If any
other cartridge is inserted in the drive, it will be ejected.
Types of tape cartridges
The 87691VX Tape Autoloader supports the following media cartridges.
Data cartridge Use VXA data cartridges to save or restore programs or data.

Use a specially labeled cleaning cartridge to clean the 87691VX
Tape Autoloader. For instructions for cleaning the 87691VX Tape
Autoloader, see "Cleaning the tape drive" on page 36.
Attention: Use of other than IBM-supported VXA cleaning
cartridges can damage your 87691VX Tape Autoloader and might
void your warranty.
