Installing a PCMCIA software card

Insert the PCMCIA card into the PCMCIA slot of the SF/CPU module.
For more information about the PCMCIA card, see Installation — Modules, NN46200-305.

Starting the system

Start the system to run a set of internal self-diagnostic tests for all modules.
Starting the system navigation
Turning on AC power supplies
Turning on DC power supplies
LED power supply
Turning on AC power supplies
Turn on an Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series chassis with an AC power supply.
Procedure steps
1. Verify that the AC power cords are connected to AC power outlets.
2. Turn the power switch on each AC power supply to the on position.
3. Verify that the power LED on each power supply turns green.
4. Verify that the power supply status LEDs and the fan LED on the 8393 or 8394
5. Verify that air flows from the cooling fans out through the vents of the chassis.

If your chassis contains two or three power supplies, turn on the power supplies
simultaneously. If you wait longer to turn on the second power supply, one of the
power supplies can shut off within 7 seconds. To correct this condition, turn off the
power supplies for a short period of time and then turn on the power supplies again
simultaneously.
