Installation
Installing mounting rails
Install the mounting rails as follows:
1. Fit the mounting rail in a position that will allow enough room for the modules to
be installed and for the heat to dissipate (a minimum of 40 mm above and be-
low the mounting rail; see Fig. 4-2).
2. Screw the mounting rail onto the surface where it is to be affixed (screw size:
M6). Is this substrate a grounded metal plate or a grounded mounting plate?
If yes: Make sure that there is a low-resistance connection between the mount-
ing rail and the substrate. If the surface of the metal is, say, painted or anod-
ized, use suitable electro-lubricant or contact washers.
If no: No special action required.
3. Connect the mounting rail with the protective conductor. An M6 protective con-
ductor screw is provided on the mounting rail for this purpose.
Minimum cross section of cable to protective conductor: 10 mm
Note
Always make sure that there is a low-resistance connection to the protective con-
ductor (see Fig. 4-6). If the rack is mounted on a movable frame, for example,
ensure that the lead to the protective conductor is flexible.
Protective conductor connection
Fig. 4-6 shows how the protective conductor must be connected to the mounting
rail.
