Networking
6. Enter the desired addresses in this dialog box at IP address and Subnet dialog
box. Under Network transition, select whether a router should be used or not. If
a router is used, enter a router address.
7. Confirm with OK.
8. Close the Properties – C230-2 dialog box with OK.
9. Save and compile the changed hardware configuration.
10.Load the new hardware configuration via PROFIBUS DP to the C230-2.
Configuration via Ethernet (initial loading of the IP address)
If no PROFIBUS DP is available for the initial loading of the IP address, the follow-
ing procedure is possible as of Windows 2000. In the TCP/IP configuration of the
PC, the setting "Take IP address automatically" must be activated.
1. Connect the Windows PC and the C230-2 directly via the RJ45 crossover
cable.
2. Boot the Windows PC. The PC cannot find a DHCP server and automatically
selects an IP address from the APIPA subnet (Automatic Private IP Adressing)
169.254.0.0.
3. Load the new hardware configuration with the new IP address via Ethernet to
the IP address 169.254.11.22 (default IP address of the C230-2 as delivered).
Initial setting
The following addresses are set after resetting the C230-2 to the default setting
(see Section 8.7) or on the module as delivered:
S IP address = 169.254.11.22
S Subnet dialog box = 255.255.0.0
S Router address = 169.254.11.22

MPI subnet

In principle, the design of an MPI subnet is the same as the design of a PROFI-
BUS subnet. Therefore the same rules apply for the design as described in Sec-
tion 7.1.
