The 24 V power supply is to be designed as functional extra-low voltage with pro-
tective separation in accordance with EN60204-1, Section 6.4, PELV (with
M ground).
Note
The connection cable between the voltage source and the load current supply con-
nector L+ and the associated reference potential M should not exceed a maximum
length of 10 m.
Digital inputs (onboard)
18 digital inputs, of which 2 are measuring inputs and 4 are BERO inputs, are
present on the C230-2.
These fast inputs correspond to Standard IEC 1131-2/DIN EN 61131-2, character-
istic curve type 2 (24 V-P-switching). Switches or proximity encoders (2- or 3-wire
encoders) can be connected.
They can be used:
S As homing inputs (BERO1...BERO4)
With a signal edge at the relevant input, the exact positions as indicated by the
current encoder values for the relevant axes are recorded, so that the home
position coordinates can be recorded.
The inputs are assigned to the axes permanently:
– BERO1 → axis 1
– BERO2 → axis 2
– BERO3 → axis 3
– BERO4 → axis 4
S As inputs for measuring inputs (MEPU1, 2)
When there is a signal edge at the corresponding input, the current encoder
values of one or more axes will be recorded with positioning accuracy (accuracy
v 10 µs), in order to thus measure lengths or clearances.
The assignment to the axes is carried out in the Engineering System.
S As user-addressable process inputs (I0...I11). Addresses are allocated in the
hardware configuration. The inputs are recorded approx. every 125 µs.
S As an alternative, the inputs BERO1...BERO4 and MEPU1, MEPU2 can be
used as user-addressable inputs. Addresses are allocated in the hardware
configuration.
