Installing Processor Data Modules (PDMs)

Requirements
The interface between the system and many types of data equipment is provided by a TN754
Digital Line circuit pack connected to a PDM. The following types of data equipment can be
connected by a PDM:
Applications Processor/Adjunct—System 75 Only
Applications Processor/Terminal—System 75 Only
Audio Information Exchange/Adjunct—V3 Only
Audio Information Exchange/Terminal—V3 Only
Call Management System—V3 Only
Distributed Communications System (DCS)—V2 and V3
Property Management System—V3 Only
Journal Printer—V3 Only
Customer Provided Terminals and Host Computers
Station Message Detailed Recording
PDMs are connected to TN754 Digital Line circuit packs and are mounted individually or in
a 71A data mounting. Each 71A data mounting can contain eight PDMs. This manual
contains only information for connection to the PDMs from the system switch. PDM
installation and testing information is contained in AT&T System 75 User's Guide—
Processor Data Module, 999-700-028.
For each fully occupied or near fully occupied data mounting, an A25D cable and a B25A
cable are used to connect the data mounting directly through the cable access panel to a
Digital Line circuit pack. If the data mounting contains only four or five PDMs at the time
of initial installation, the data mounting is connected by an A25D cable through the cross-
connect field to a Digital Line circuit pack. This arrangement allows for future growth, cuts
down on future wiring requirements to the data mounting, and does not require that idle
Digital Line circuits be dedicated to the data mounting. The PDMs can also be mounted and
connected individually through the cross-connect field.
Installation
Connection to Data Mounting Through Cable Access Panel (Figure 2-118)
1.
Identify carrier slot and label both ends of switch cable.
2.
Connect cable to appropriate port carrier slot and dress cable down sides of
cabinet.
3.
Run and connect cable from bottom of the switch cabinet through cable slack
manager, if provided, to unused CABINET CABLES connector on cable access
panel.
4.
Run and connect the A25D cable from DISTRIBUTION CABLES connector to
location of data mounting (see Note).
Note: The data mounting is located in the auxiliary cabinet, if provided.
5.
Connect A25D cable to DCP-LINE connector on rear of data mounting.
