and operate the tab decelerator-arm (Figure 19).
This action tightens the tab spring-clutch and gives
an increased rotation to the already operating cen-
trifugal-governor. This increased rotation slows the
carriage during the last portion of a tabulation and
absorbs the shock.

Removal
The decelerator, gear and hub assembly, and main-
spring drum may be removed as a complete unit by
following these steps:
1. Remove typewriter from the base section.
2. Disconnect the carriage-tension tape at the main-
spring drum. CAUTION: Allow mainspring to un-
wind slowly.
