The server might come with one of the following power supply configurations:
• One screw-secured, non-hot-swap 300-watt power supply assembly
• One or two hot-swap 450-watt redundant power supplies
Note: If you are using uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), ensure that you
use only pure-sine UPS with your ThinkServer server.
Your server comes with the following fans to provide proper system cooling
and airflow:
• One heat sink and fan assembly
• Two front system fans
• One rear system fan
Internal drives are devices that your server uses to read and store data. The
internal drives supported by your server vary by model.
• Internal storage drive
– Up to four 3.5-inch hot-swap Serial Advanced Technology Attachment
(SATA) or Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disk drives (HDDs) (SCSI is
the acronym for Small Computer System Interface)
– Five to eight 3.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS HDDs
– Up to four 3.5-inch non-hot-swap SATA HDDs
– Up to eight 2.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS HDDs
– Up to sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS HDDs
– Up to four 3.5-inch and eight 2.5-inch hot-swap SATA or SAS HDDs
• Optical drive
– Up to two optical drives
– The server has two optical drive bays. The lower optical drive bay is
installed with a SATA optical drive.
• Tape drive (available on some models)
Your server supports RDX and LTO tape drives that enable you to store
data on tape drive media. To install or remove a tape drive, see "Installing a
tape drive" on page 73.
Notes:
– If the server has a tape drive installed, ensure that it is installed in the
lower bay (the optical drive bay 1).
– If your server is installed with a Windows Server operating system, you
can use the Windows Backup program to back up the data stored on
tape drive media. For detailed information, refer to the user guide of the
tape drive. The user guide is available for download at:

Your server has four PCIe expansion slots on the system board. For detailed
information, see "System board components" on page 31.
