Test, Check, and/or Remedy
Check the battery and recharge or replace
Check all connections and cables. Tighten or replace
as required.
Check the oil. Refer to Section 2-2.
Remove and replace the oil as necessary.
Make sure there is sufficient fuel in the fuel tank.
If engine will not start, the fuel pump may be
defective.
If engine starts and then stops after a short time,
check fuel lines, and filters
Open the shutoff valve on the fuel tank.
Replace fuel filters. Also, check the gaskets for
leaking or damaged condition.
Tighten all fittings and connections. Replace any
damaged hoses or fuel links.
Replace the EIB board.
Check wiring to engine high temperature switch (S49
on schematic), which is located on top of the engine
block. If wiring is correct, remove wires and check
resistance between terminals C and N.O. A
resistance of less than 10 ohms indicates a defective
switch. Replace switch if defective.
Replace the EIB board.
Check the compression in accordance with
instructions in the engine manufacturer's operation
manual. Overhaul the engine to make repairs as
necessary.
Restart the engine and observe oil pressure gauge. If
oil pressure is 12 psi or more, disconnect wire from
the normally-closed switch terminal on the oil pressure
switch. Restart engine. If engine continues to run,
the oil pressure switch is defective. Replace oil
pressure switch. If engine stops, the EIB board might
be defective.
Replace EIB board.
