Inspecting the Carbon Canister
Air Filter
Service Interval: After the first 50 hours
Every 200 hours
1. Locate the air filter on the bottom of the carbon
canister (Figure 37).

2. Ensure that the opening on the bottom of the filter is
clear and open.

Servicing the Air Cleaner

Service Interval: Every 50 hours—Clean and oil the
air cleaner foam pre-cleaner. (Every
25 hours if operating conditions are
extremely dusty or sandy)
Every 50 hours—Inspect the air cleaner paper element.
Every 200 hours
1. Remove the knob, O-ring, and cover (Figure 38).

water.
B. Wrap the foam pre-cleaner in cloth and press dry.
Do not wring the pre-cleaner. Allow it to air dry.
C. Saturate the foam pre-cleaner in clean engine oil.
Press it to remove any excess oil.
Do not wash the paper element or clean it with
compressed air, as damage will occur.
Note: With the air cleaner disassembled, check the air
cleaner components for damage. Replace and damaged
parts.
