Jump-Starting the Machine

WARNING
Jump-starting can be dangerous. To avoid personal
injury or damage to electrical components in
machine, observe the following warnings:
• Never jump-start with a voltage source greater
than 15 volts DC. This will damage the electrical
system.
• Never attempt to jump start a discharged battery
that is frozen. It could rupture or explode during
jump starting.
• Observe all battery warnings while jump starting
your machine.
• Ensure that the machine is not touching the
jump start machine.
• Connecting cables to the wrong post could
result in personal injury and/or damage to the
electrical system.
1. Squeeze the battery cover to release the tabs from
battery base, and remove the battery cover from the
battery base

2. Connect a jumper cable between the positive posts of
the 2 batteries
(Figure
Note: The positive post may be identified by a + sign
on top of the battery cover.
3. Connect the end of the other jumper cable to the
negative terminal of the battery in the other machine.
Important: Do not connect the jumper cable to
the fuel system.

Note: The negative terminal has NEG on the
battery cover. Do not connect the other end of the
jumper cable to the negative post of the discharged
battery—connect it to the engine or frame.

4. Start the engine of the machine that provides the
electrical source for the jump start.
Note: Let machine that provides the electrical source
run a few minutes, then start your engine.
5. Remove the negative jumper cable first from your
engine, then the battery in the other vehicle.
6. Install the battery cover to the battery base.
