Ream t he guides to remove any carbo n build
up before chec kil"l!J t he valve guide 1 .0 .
Meas ure and record the val ve guide 1.0 .
Calculate the stem-to-guide c learance.

• It the stem·to-guide clearance ex-
ceeds t he service lim it. determine if a
new guide with stan dard dimensio ns
wou ld bring the clearan ce with in
tolerance. If so , replace guides as
necenary and ream to fit •
• If the valve guide is replace d, the
v" Ive seat must be relaced.
