17. Use a rotary tool and cutoff wheel to trim the length
of the axle. Use a flat file to make a 1/4-inch (6mm) wide flat
where the setscrew from the adapter will rest.
18. Assemble the nose wheel assembly as shown. Use
threadlock on the setscrew before tightening it on the flat
area made in the previous step.
hint: Place a drop of light machine oil on the axle
before sliding it into the wheel so it rolls smoothly
during takeoff and landing.

19. Before attaching the nose wheel assembly to the
nose gear wire, use a flat file to make flats for the setscrews
on the nose gear wire for the adapter. Use the setscrews
included with your retracts and threadlock to secure the
adapter to the nose gear wire.
20. Check the length of the nose gear as shown in the
photo. The center of the wheel will be 4
shown in the second photo.
21. Trim the template for the nose gear from page 43
of the manual. Use scissors and a hobby knife to trim the
template.
Note: The template has a small amount of material
connecting the front and rear of the opening. This is
necessary to keep the template from distorting when
taped to the fuselage. The material on the fuselage will

be removed to allow the retract to operate.
22. Use low-tack tape to attach the template to the
fuselage. Use the opening for the fixed gear and the notch in
the wing for alignment.
