    The second safety feature is provided by the tool’s self-diagnostic system: When the tool is first used, the SELION C21 HD checks that the electronic kick-back sensor is operational, and if this is the case, the tool can operate! Finally, the third safety feature arises from the use of OREGON low kick-back chains: if there is a kick- back, it will be less severe than with a standard chainsaw.

    SAFETY MEASURES WORKING WITH TREE SERVICE CHAIN-SAWS FROM ROPE AND HARNESS Overview This annex sets out working practices aimed at reducing the risk of injury from tree service chain-saws when working at height from a rope and harness. While it may form the basis of guidance and training literature, it should not be regarded as a substitute for formal training.
  • Page 10 SAFETY MEASURES The ability to directly attach the saw to the harness reduces the risk of damage to equipment when moving around the tree. Always switch the saw off when it is directly attached to the harness. The saw should only be attached to the recommended attachment points on the harness.
  • Page 11 SAFETY MEASURES Gaining a good footing at the working position can be assisted by the use of a temporary foot stirrup created from an endless sling (see Figure E4). One-handed use of the chain-saw Operators should not use tree service chain-saws one-handed when work position is unstable or in preference to a handsaw when cutting small diameter wood at the branch tips.

    CHAIN LUBRICATING SYSTEM Reasonable oil consumption! Oil consumption has been significantly reduced by the electronic control of the oil flow. This is a PELLENC innovation. 1– Use special guide and chain oil (P/No. 85920). 2– Carefully pour the guide and chain oil into the reservoir.

    1 to 2 minutes. Check the chain tension after running in (see page 23). The tool is equipped with a Pellenc-designed electric motor. The motor maintains a constant speed, both off load and when cutting. Allow the chainsaw to cut without pressing excessively.

    You can permanently lock it in position using the retractable wrench (PELLENC innovation). The automatic chain tensioning along with the PELLENC retractable wrench can also be used to retighten the guide in a few seconds: no need for additional wrenches! 51_08_025A Make sure that the chain tension is correct by pulling the chain.

    Simplified chain maintenance! No need for an additional wrench to remove and reinstall the chain, PELLENC’s innovative retractable wrench system can be used to tighten the chain in a few seconds. Loosen the chain guard (10) nut by 3 turns.

    STARTING AND USE Adjust the tension as often as necessary. Check the tension by pulling the chain in the middle of the guide: 1 to 3 drive links should appear. 51_08_025A CHECKING AND REPLACING THE SPROCKET Remove the chain guide and the chain. Remove the circlip and remove the sprocket.

    Before working on the tool, check that the On / Off switch is in the off position «0» and disconnect the battery power lead. WARNING: Never use a chain or a guide other than that specified by PELLENC, otherwise there is a risk of personal injury.
