Troubleshooting—Continued
• Make sure that the TX-NR901 is not subjected to
direct sunshine or inverter-type fluorescent lights.
Relocate if necessary.
• If the TX-NR901 is installed in a rack or cabinet with
colored-glass doors, the remote controller may not
work reliably when the doors are closed.
• Make sure you've selected the correct remote control-
ler mode (page 14).
• When using the remote controller to control other
manufacturers' AV components, some buttons may
not work as expected.
• Make sure you've entered the correct remote control
code.
• If you change the remote controller's transmission sig-
nal format to RF, be sure to select the same ID as the
RF receiver.
Can't control other components?
• If it's an Onkyo component, make sure that the
cable and analog audio cable (RCA/phono) are con-
nected properly. Connecting only an
work (page 36).
• Make sure you've selected the correct remote control-
ler mode (page 14).
• If you connect an MD recorder to the TAPE sockets,
be sure to set make the necessary setting (page 50).
Can't learn commands from other remote con-
trollers?
• Make sure that the transmitting ends of both remote
controllers are pointing at each other.
• Are you trying to learn from a remote controller that
cannot be used for learning? Some commands cannot
be learnt, especially those that transmit several
instructions with a single button press.
Recording
Can't record?
• On your recorder, make sure the correct input is
selected (e.g., digital or analog).
Zone 2
Zone 2 has turned off?
• Was the Sleep function set? The Sleep function turns
off Zone 2 as well as the TX-NR901. To set the Sleep
function for Zone 2 only, see page 87.
There's no sound?
• Since the Zone 2 function and the REC OUT outputs
use the same circuitry, you cannot use Zone 2 and
record at the same time. When the [REC OUT] button
is pressed, Zone 2 is turned off.
The Surr Back speaker setting doesn't appear?
• If no surround back speakers are connected, or the sur-
round back outputs are being used with Zone 2, this
setting is unavailable.
Net-Tune
Can't access Internet radio or the Net-Tune
server?
• Check the connection between the TX-NR901 and the
LAN port on your router or switch.
• Make sure that your modem and router are properly
connected, and make sure they are both turned on.
• Make sure that the Network Setup settings are correct
(page 82).
Playback stops while listening to Net-Tune
tracks?
• Make sure that your computer meets the system
requirements listed on page 75.
• When you download or copy large files on your com-
puter, Net-Tune playback may be interrupted. In this
case, try closing any unused programs, use a more
powerful computer, or use a dedicated server com-
puter for Net-Tune Central.
• If Net-Tune Central is serving WAV files to several cli-
cable won't
ents at the same time, the network may become over-
loaded and playback may be interrupted. This can be
resolved by preparing an Ethernet network exclusively
for use with Net-Tune, separating it from general net-
work traffic, and by using switches to improve net-
work performance.
Can't get a list of Internet radio stations from
the Xiva-Net online database?
• Try again later.
Can't access music on the selected server, or
can't connect to the server?
• Make sure that your computer is turned on and that
Net-Tune Central is up and running.
• Add the MP3, WMA, and WAV files on your computer
to the Net-Tune Central database. See the Net-Tune
Central online help for details.
• Set the TX-NR901's POWER switch to OFF, wait five
seconds, and then set it to ON again. (On American
and Australian models, disconnect the power cord for
five seconds, and then reconnect it.) If that doesn't
help, restart your computer.
• On the 5-4. Client Setup menu, make sure that the
NTSP Port setting is set to the same port number as
Net-Tune Central. Correct as necessary (page 83).
Can't select albums?
• Use Net-Tune Central to add album names to your
music files.
Can't select artists?
• Use Net-Tune Central to add artist names to your
music files.
Can't select by genre?
• Use Net-Tune Central to add genre names to your
music files.
