Using the Rail Locking Tabs

Install the Server in a Rack

!
18
Both chassis rails have a locking tab, which serves two functions:
The tabs can lock the server into place when installed and pushed fully into the rack, (its
normal operating position).
The tabs also lock the server in place when fully extended from the rack. This prevents the
server from coming completely out of the rack when pulled out for servicing. Depress both
tabs at the same time to fully remove the server from its rail mounting and extract it from the
rack.
Warning:
The SGI Rackable C1104-GP2/C1110-GP2 server weighs up to 34.1 lbs (15.5
kg) Always use proper lifting techniques when your move the server. Always get the
assistance of another qualified person and/or a mechanical lifting device when you install the
sever. Failure to do so may result in serious personal injury or damage to the equipment.
1.
Extend the outer rails on either side of the rack rail assembly.
2. Align the inner rails of the chassis with the outer rails on the rack, see Figure 2-6.
