Understanding the radio indicators

The status LED indicators and the radio's audible tones—
together with the radio display—all combine to give you
information about the state of your radio.
The most common way the indicators work is described in
the following sections.
The way these indicators behave may be affected by the way
your radio is programmed.
Status LED indicators
LED Meaning
red Glowing: your radio is transmitting
(transmit)
Flashing: your transmit timer is about to expire, or
your radio is stunned
green Glowing: you are receiving or your radio is actively in a call
(receive) (MPT trunked mode)
Flashing: you have received a call with valid special signal-
ling, or you have activated monitor or squelch override
amber Glowing: your radio is scanning a group of channels for
(scanning or activity (conventional mode) or network service is available
network) (MPT trunked mode)
Flashing: your radio has detected activity on a channel, and
has halted on this channel (conventional mode)
Flashing fast: there is no network service available (MPT
trunked mode)
