Installing the Cabinet

Planning the Installation

Before installing the common equipment, you should mount a Main Distribution Frame (MDF) plywood
backboard in a centrally located spot. A 1/2 sheet of plywood (4' x 4') should be more than adequate (see
Figure 1-1 Installation Layout below). Mount this backboard using suitable fasteners, taking care to adhere
to standard installation practices and local codes.
The equipment cabinet requires a three-prong, dedicated 110 VAC 60 Hz circuit (NEMA 5-15 receptacle)
located within 4 1/2' feet of the cabinet's lower left corner.
Normally, you install the extension blocks and trunk/AUX jacks to the right of the Main Cabinet.

Local codes may prohibit you from installing extensions, trunks and optional equipment in
the same blocks.
Do not plug in the 25-pair extension cable with power applied.
