5 Battery
Your battery is a lithium-ion battery, the ideal type of bat-
tery for this application. One of the main benefits of this
battery is its low weight combined with a high capacity.

Charging the battery
› Damaged batteries may not be charged, and fur-
ther use is not permitted.
› The battery may heat up during charging. It can
get lukewarm. If it reaches 45°C, the battery
stops charging for safety reasons.
› During the charging process, the battery must be
positioned on an even, non-flammable surface.
The charger must not be covered.
› There is no memory effect. You can therefore fully
recharge your battery after every trip.
› Recharge the battery after every trip, so you are
always ready for the off.
› Each battery self-drains to a certain degree. Over
an extended period of time this can lead to total
discharging which damages the battery. In the as-
delivered condition, the battery is not fully charged
and is in what is referred to as sleep mode. Sleep
mode minimises the rate at which the battery dis-

switches the battery to sleep mode after a certain
length of time to protect it. The following table
shows what to expect of your battery:

To "wake up" the battery, simply place it in the charger
for one minute. The 18 Ah and 24 Ah batteries can also be
woken up by pressing the PUSH button.
If you put a battery with a >60 percent charge into stor-
age, you can leave it for six months before recharging it.
Then you must recharge it.
Ideally you should charge the battery at a temperature of
between +10°C and +30°C. It takes longer to charge the
battery at low temperatures, the battery will not charge
up at temperatures higher than +30°C.
