Owner's Manual
Storage Guide
Extended storage requires that you take certain steps to
reduce the effects of deterioration from motorcycle
inactivity.
ATTENTION
Strictly follow the recommended procedures provided
at the end of the manual for cleaning and maintaining
the motorcycle.
Oxidation
One of the main consequences of inadequate or inefficient
motorcycle maintenance is oxidation. Motorcycles are
different from other vehicles as their frames and exposed
components are unprotected. Several metal components
are uncovered due to the fastening system adopted.
All metal material is susceptible to oxidation when in
contact with oxygen. This is usually known as rust.
This process can be further accelerated when in constant
contact with water and with salt in particular.
The oxidation process can be easily controlled as long as
cleaning and maintenance are performed correctly. We also
recommend other special cares, such as frequent washing
and drying and application of rust-inhibiting products, as
necessary.
Remember that natural wearing and corrosion are not
covered by Honda Limited Warranty. We also provided
important information at the end of the manual that will help
you prevent oxidation.
ATTENTION
• • • • • Riding the motorcycle near the ocean may accelerate
the oxidation process.
• • • • • Wash the motorcycle immediately after riding near
the ocean or exposing the motorcycle to sea air.
• • • • • Apply rust-inhibiting spray to metal components after
washing the motorcycle.
• • • • • Strictly follow the recommended procedures for
cleaning and maintaining the motorcycle provided at
the end of the manual.
