CHAPTER 2: Checking Out Your Convertible Notebook www.gateway.com Using the DVD drive You can use your convertible notebook to enjoy a wide variety of multimedia features. Identifying drive types Your Gateway convertible notebook may contain one of the following drive types.
Using the memory card reader You can use memory cards to transfer pictures from a digital camera to your convertible notebook. You can also use the memory card reader to transfer data between your convertible notebook and a device that uses memory cards, such as a PDA, MP3 player, or cellular telephone.
Insert the memory card into the memory card slot with the label facing up and the arrow on the label pointing towards the convertible notebook. Using a memory card To access a file on a memory card: Tap or click Start, then tap or click My Computer.
Adding and removing a PC Card Adding and removing a PC Card Your convertible notebook has a PC Card slot (also known as a PCMCIA card slot). This slot accepts one Type II card. You do not need to restart your convertible notebook when changing most cards because your convertible notebook supports hot-swapping.
