3.2 Replacing the Lamp from the Front

If you can get to the rear of the display, go to the previous section. It is easier to change the lamp from
the rear, but many installations do not allow this.
To change the lamp from the front, you must remove
the optical engine part way, then take the lamp out
from the back of it. This is not as difficult as it
sounds. The optical engine was designed for easy
removal and replacement.
However, this process does have some steps where
you must be quite careful so you do not damage the
mirrors.
The first time you remove the optical engine, take
your time and be careful. The next time you do it, it
will be much easier, but you must still be careful.
These instructions also apply if you are removing the
engine completely. The next two sections describe the
whole process of removing – part way or all the way
out – and replacing the optical engine. This section
gives only an overview of the process. Read the over-
view here, but don't do anything until you read the
next two sections.
