5.5 AC Power Entry Repair

You can replace the whole power entry module or just replace the circuit breaker in it. You can do this
from the front or from the rear through the large access door.
To remove the power entry module
1. Disconnect the AC power cord.
2. Disconnect any source input and output cables on
the electronics module that seem to be in your
way. You may want to disconnect cables on the
right side of the electronics module, too, or even
remove it completely, although it is not necessary
to remove it. ("Replacing the Electronics Module"
on page 70)
3. Disconnect the cable from the top of the power
supply. You may wish to remove the power supply
to give yourself more working room. ("Replacing
the Power Supply" on page 68)
4. Remove the large nut (7/16") on the ground lug.
This is actually two nuts, tightened on top of each
other.
5. Remove the two nuts (11/32") holding the AC
power input module to the floor of the chassis.
To replace the circuit breaker
6. Remove the power entry module, as described
above.
7. Open the module. Remove a hex head screw
(5/64") from each side.
8. Pull off the four wires connected to the circuit
breaker. Pull the lugs, not the wires.
9. The breaker is pressed in. Pinch the clips holding
it and press it out.
10. Insert the new circuit breaker. Be sure it snaps all
the way in.
11. Reconnect the wires. See the wiring diagram.
12. Re-close the power entry module and secure with
the two hex head screws.
To install the power entry module
13. Insert the module into its place with the side hole
to the left side of the chassis (as viewed from the
front).
14. Connect the ground wire with the green wire to
the large stud. A star lock washer should be at the
bottom against the chassis. Then the lug. Then
two nuts (7/16"). Tighten them separately so they
lock on.
15. Secure the module to the chassis with two nuts
(11/32").
16. Connect the two-wire cable from the module to
the top connector on the power supply.

17. If you removed the electronics module or the
power supply, put them in now.
18. Reconnect all the cables to the electronics mod-
ule.
19. Reconnect the AC power cord.
20. Turn on the power to see if everything works.
