4.1 Removing a Floor-Mounted Display

Displays in a properly built wall are bolted together in a number of places. If it is necessary to remove
a WN-4030 from a wall, this is how to do it. These instructions apply to free-standing displays in a
video wall, whether they mounted on a Clarity base, a custom-made base, or mounted on a custom
platform. For displays mounted (hanging) on a wall, see the next section.
Display units in a wall are bolted together in several
places. Check all these before you try to lift a unit out
of the wall. Naturally, you will have to remove all the
displays above the one you want to take out.
Front of frames
The front of the displays are bolted together just
behind the screen. Remove the screen and look at the
chassis where the screen was.
At the bottom, there should be two bolts holding
this unit to the unit below (or to the Clarity base, or
to a custom-made base). And there should be two
bolts holding this unit to the one to your left. These
four bolts thread into holes in the next door units.
Screen clips
Where frames of two or four displays come
together, you should see screen clips, either cross-
shaped or T-shaped. These align the screens. Remove
them (and save them) before removing a display unit
from the wall.
Anti-tilt brackets
In a stack of displays, there may be anti-tilt brack-
ets holding the back part of one display to the one
above it. Look for these in the cable holes where
cables could run vertically. These small, U-shaped
brackets are held with nuts that normally hold cable
hole covers.
Side alignment brackets
To align the displays side-to-side, and to get the
proper spacing between units, there may be a bracket
mounted in the side cable holes. This connects the
two side cable holes of neighboring units. It is held in
place by the nuts that normally hold cable hole cov-
ers.
In very high stacks and walls that tilt
The upper units should be tied or strapped to real
walls or other structures. This safety precaution pre-
vents the wall from tipping forward. Check for these
custom devices.
If all the bolts and brackets listed above are
removed, and all the cables are disconnected and
60
pulled out of the way, you are ready to lift the display
out of the wall. Lifting from the front, use the inside
corner braces near the big mirror. These give the dis-
play structural strength, but they are also handy for
lift from the inside front.
You can lift the displays straight up. It is not neces-
sary to slide them to the rear to take them out.
Clarity Bases
Clarity bases are bolted to each other side-to-side
with three bolts and nuts. If the bases are raised on
base extensions, these are bolted to the bases with
four nuts and bolts.
