The SCPI Status Registers

The Standard Event Register

The Standard Event register reports the following types of instrument events: power-
on detected, command syntax errors, command execution errors, self-test or
calibration errors, query errors, or when an *OPC command is executed. Any or all
of these conditions can be reported in the standard event summary bit (ESB, bit 5) of
Status Byte register through the enable register. To set the enable register mask, you
write a decimal value to the register using the *ESE (Event Status Enable) command.
An error condition (Standard Event register bit 2, 3, 4, or 5) will always record
one or more errors in the power supply's error queue. Read the error queue using
the SYST:ERR? command.
