Color Frame
NTSC: Used to synchronize the time code to the NTSC four-field color
sequence:
• "1" for even frame numbers.
• "0" for odd frame numbers.
PAL: Used to synchronize the time code to the PAL eight-field color
sequence:
• "1" for fields 1, 2, 3, and 4.
• "0" for fields 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Drop Frame
NTSC Drop Frame: To minimize the NTSC time error (29.97 Hz vs. 30 Hz), the
first two frame numbers (00 and 01) are omitted from the count at the start of
each minute except minutes 00, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50. When this occurs, the
Drop Frame bit must be set.
PAL: This bit is not used. Set to "0."
NOTE: Generally the host S/W can ignore the "Color Frame" and "Drop Frame" bits.
The following table shows LTC output during trick modes (For GOP header or
firmware generated time codes).

LTC output, last valid time code.
LTC output. each video frame will have a new time code.
LTC output, same time code repeated each video frame sync
until resume.
LTC output, same time code repeated each video frame sync
until frame advance is executed, then time code will increment.
LTC output, approximate time code for the I-frames of the GOP.
This is due to the fact that the MPEG decoder only displays I-
frames in fast forward mode.
LTC output, time code will be output each video frame sync,
but time code value will follow the playback rate. During slow
motion, each picture is displayed several times before advanc-
ing to the next picture.
LTC output, follows stream playing in background.
