System Options

By installing system related optional accessories, the user can expand the
functionality of the machine. This section describes the system related optional
accessories and their functions.
■ UFR II Printer Kit
You can upgrade this machine to a high-speed network printer by installing the optional
UFR II Printer Kit. This kit incorporates UFR II (Ultra Fast Rendering II) Technology, which
utilizes Canon's original printing algorithm to minimize file processing and achieve
maximum performance. A hard disk is also included in the kit. The hard disk is required to
use the Mail Box and Fax functions.
■ Expansion Bus
The Expansion Bus is necessary to install the USB Application Interface Board.
■ USB Application Interface Board
The USB (Universal Serial Bus) Application Interface Board is necessary to activate the iR
Security Kit.
■ Super G3 FAX Board
Installing the Super G3 FAX Board enables you to fax documents that have been created
in applications directly from your PC via a network.
NOTE
The Canon Fax Driver is supplied with the Super G3 FAX Board, and enables you to
send fax images from a PC via the machine.
■ iR Security Kit
The iR Security Kit enables you to erase the content of the machine's hard disk from a PC,
as well as set the machine so that the general user cannot view the job logs.
NOTE
The features of the iR Security Kit are available only if the optional iR Security Kit is
activated by registering a license key after the Expansion Bus and USB Application
Interface Board are installed.
