Symptom
Faded printouts with multiple
colors faded
Only one color is faded
Cause
The paper type is heavier or
thicker than the paper type
selection.
The paper being used is outside
the recommended specification
range.
The toner cartridges are not
Xerox ® toner cartridges.
The bias transfer roller voltage is
insufficient for the paper type.
The settings in the application or
print driver are incorrect.
The paper is damp.
The toner cartridges are not
Xerox ® toner cartridges.
The imaging unit is defective.

Solution
Adjust the paper type settings.
Replace the paper with a
recommended size and type, and
confirm that your control panel and
print driver settings are correct. For
details, see Supported Paper
52.
Replace the toner cartridges with
genuine Xerox ® toner cartridges. It can
take several prints before full quality is
restored.
Verify that the paper loaded in the tray
matches the paper type selected at the
control panel and in the print driver.
Print the Graphics Demo Page. If the
Demo Page looks correct, the printer is
printing properly. Your application or
incorrect settings in the print driver are
probably causing the print-quality
problems.
Replace the paper.
Note: Store your paper and other
media properly for optimum print
quality. For details, see Paper Storage
Guidelines on page 53.
Replace the toner cartridges with

restored.
If the defect occurs in one color only,
replace the corresponding imaging
unit.
