Installation
Equipment and Tool Requirements
•
The VIPET unit, with pre-installed hardware and software options.
•
The VIPET-SERIAL-4 (RS485 port expander), BOB08 / BOB04 Audio Breakout Box, etc., if used.
•
A small flat-bladed screwdriver.
•
A pair of wire cutters/strippers.
•
A soldering iron.
•
A standard 19-inch rack wired and configured with equipment to be controlled by the VIPET (e.g. DSP
Router), cabling for power supply, wiring for signal monitoring, RS232 and RS485 cabling and/or other
cabling as appropriate.

The VIPET requires a mains filter for EMC compliance, and for protection against
voltage surges.

The VIPET mains filter needs to be ordered as part of the VIPET system, as ASL
item VIPET-MAINS-FILTER, and should be installed as shown in Figure 3.

Termination and Suggested Type
Standard unscreened LAN cable.
Cabling connector: 25-WD male connector.
Cabling as per connected device specification.
Cabling connector: 9-WD female connector.
Cabling as per ASL Router specification.

Installation cabling connector: IEC320 socket.
Normal standard mains cabling installation. Current
rating to suit particular installation.

USB cable is supplied.
If an alternate cable is required, use high quality
shielded cabling for EMC compliance.
