3. CONFIGURING THE DVR WITH A CABLE MODEM

The DVR works in conjunction with widely available cable modems that offer
conventional dynamic IP addresses. The following steps are not mandatory, but they
are highly recommended to properly set up the DVR directly with the Cable modems.
The DVR and the modem should be powered off.
Connect the network cable from the DVR to the modem.
Power on the modem.
Power on the DVR.
Enter the menu and go into the Network Setup Submenu
Select Dynamic
Press the Menu button twice to exit to the main window. Then press the Info button to
display system information. The host name will be unique to the DVR, and will be
displayed something similar to J20002F. The IP address will display the factory default
address of 192.168.0.85 as no address has been issued yet.
