4.5 Operational checks

DANGER
Unguarded rotating and moving engine components.
Risk of serious injury – danger to life!
• Take special care when working on a running engine.
WARNING
Engine noise above 85 dB (A).
Risk of damage to hearing!
• Wear ear protectors.

Visually inspect the engine for leaks and general condition;
Check for abnormal noises and vibrations;
Check exhaust color (→ Page 132).
Check if suction-side pressure indicated at the fuel prefilter pressure
gauge is within the limit. (→ Page 184).
Drain off water and dirt (→ Page 185)
Check drain line for water discharge and obstruction (→ Page 190).
Check signal ring position of service indicator (→ Page 193);
Replace air filter (→ Page 191), if the signal ring is completely visible in the
service indicator control window.
Check relief bore for oil and coolant discharge and dirt (→ Page 212).
