13.0 Windshield Wiper Cutoff Does not Function

To prevent damage to the wiper motors if the windshield wipers are frozen to the windshield and
the wipers were left on, the remote starter automatically cuts power to the wiper motors during a
remote start. The following diagnosis can be used if these feature is not working properly.

13.1 Windshield Wiper Cutoff Diagnostic Flowchart

Check for basic windshield
wiper operation after turning
on the ignition switch.
Does it work properly?
YES
Check for continuity in the
related lines between
MICU and control unit.
Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the control unit
13.2 Windshield Wiper Cutoff
Detailed Troubleshooting
1. Disconnect the remote starter
branch harness from the MICU and
the vehicle wiring harness.
2. Connect the vehicle's original
connectors back into the MICU.
Make sure the wipers work p roperly.
D o the wipers work properly?
Y ES – go to step 3.
NO – Refer to the ve
service manual for repair.
3. Disconnect the connector from the
control unit.
4. Che k for continuity in the black/red c
lead between the engine starter
control unit and body ground.
