D. Facing Material
• Metal front faces may be covered with non-combustible
materials only.
• Facing and/or fi nishing materials must not interfere with
air fl ow through louvers, operation of louvers or doors,
or access for service.
• Facing and/or fi nishing materials must never overhang
into the glass opening.
• Observe all clearances when applying combustible
materials.
• Seal joints between the fi nished wall and appliance top
and sides using a 300ºF minimum sealant. Refer to
Figure 13.11.
WARNING! Risk of Fire! DO NOT apply combustible
materials beyond the minimum clearances. Comply with
all minimum clearances to combustibles as specifi ed in
this manual. Overlapping materials could ignite and will
interfere with proper operation of doors and louvers.

A door (decorative front) is required for this appliance.
Only doors certifi ed for use with this appliance model may
be used. The following doors are approved:
• FS-36-XX
• FS-42-XX
(X = color choice)
Door fi nishing templates designed for use with the LMOD
Series doors are included with this appliance. Door fi n-
ishing templates for the FS Series doors may be ordered
separately from Hearth & Home Technologies dealers.

The doors approved for use with this appliance have been
designed to be installed by two methods: Overlap Fit or
Inside Fit. Before beginning the installation, it is important
to determine which method will be used.
Overlap Fit Doors: These doors have been designed to
be installed over fi nishing material that is less than one
inch thick.
Inside Fit Doors: These doors may be recessed into non-
combustible fi nishing material up to 4 inches thick.
NOTICE: Proper clearances from the fi replace opening to
fi nishing material thicker than 1 inch MUST be maintained
when installing appliance in an inside fi t application. See
Figure 13.12.
NOTE: Finishing templates are included with this product.
