Model 4720 Downloading (with 5540 PC Downloading Software)

18.1

The Initial Download

18.1.1
The Model 4720 was programmed at the factory to Answer Ring Detect after 10 rings. Once the
Model 4720 is installed, the downloading computer can call the Model 4720. After 10 rings, the
Model 4720 will answer the call and downloading will begin.

Subsequent Downloads

18.1.2
If the Ring Detector option is still enabled, the computer can call the Model 4720 as described
above. Downloading can also be initiated by pressing 4, TEST, followed by Code 0 or Code 1.
During uploading or downloading, the LCD will display UP/DOWNLOAD. During the
downloading of options to the EEPROM, the LCD will also display address numbers. Downloading
of all options takes approximately four (4) minutes. Downloading cannot take place while the
system is in alarm.
During downloading, the system will NOT respond to alarms.
Users must not attempt to access the system during
downloading. Door access will not function properly during
downloading. Attempting door access during downloading
could cause incorrect data to be programmed. User should be
notified before downloading begins to ensure they do not
attempt door access until downloading is complete.

Ring Detector

18.1.3
The 4720 has a built-in ring detector. This ring detector, when enabled, allows the remote computer
to call up the Model 4720 for downloading or status changes.

Compatibility Notes

18.1.4
• 5530 Modem, Revision C
If you experience downloading problems when attempting to download a Revision M or later
4720 board using Revision C of the Model 5530 Modem, contact ITI Technical Support (800-
777-2624) to arrange for an upgrade of the downloading software.
• 4720 Revision N (and later)
Revision N and later revisions of the Model 4720 are intended to be programmed using Revision
3.7 or later of the downloading software. If you attempt to program a Revision N panel with an
earlier version of the software, the EEPROM will contain some invalid setup information that
could cause the panel to display the message SERVICE EEPROM.
If you need to program a Revision N or later panel using Revision 3.6 or earlier of the downloading
software, follow the procedure described below. This will prevent the problem from occurring in a
new panel that has not yet been programmed.
1. Upload from a Revision N or later panel.
2. Save the upload.
3. Now you can change programming as needed and download the panel.
