Jumper Blocks and Jumper Wires

3.12
Note: Starting with PC board Revision J, J1 and J2 are jumper blocks instead of jumper wires. Instead of cutting
the jumper wire, move the jumper block to the left ("out") position. J3 and J4 are still jumper wires on the
Revision L PC board.
Jumper blocks J5 and J6 are new with the Revision L PC board. See Section 3.12.4.

Jumper Block J1

3.12.1
If a siren (speaker) is used, leave this jumper block in the right position (jumper not cut, in earlier
revisions). Move it to the left position (jumper cut) if a DC bell or DC siren is used.

Jumper Block J2

3.12.2
If you want both alarm tones and alert tones to be present on Terminals 8 and 45, leave jumper block
J2 in the right position (jumper not cut). When you move Jumper Block J2 to the left position
(jumper cut), only the alarm tones will be present at Terminal 8 but both tones will be present at
Terminal 45.

Jumpers J3 and J4

3.12.3
With Jumpers J3 and J4 left in place, the DC Power switch does not function. This is necessary for
NFPA and California Fire Marshall applications. For burglary applications, these jumpers may be
cut to enable the DC Power switch.

Jumper Blocks J5 and J6 (Starting with Revision L PC Board)

3.12.4
Jumper blocks J5 and J6 (new with the Revision L printed circuit board) control the Answering
Machine Bypass feature. These two (2) jumper blocks are located just to the left of the Model 4175
Phone Header. When NO 4175 is used, J5 and J6 should be to the right, next to the Model 4175
header. This allows downloading to take place even when the user has an answering machine.
When a 4175 is to be used (NO answering machine bypass), the jumper blocks must be in the left
position. If they are not in the left position, it is impossible to plug the Model 4175 into its header.
Make sure you put each jumper block on its own header (horizontal position)—Do NOT place one
jumper block across both the J5 and J6 headers.
