Switching off DSC
Press the DSC button; the DSC indicator light
remains permanently lit. DSC and MDM are
switched off.
A message appears on the control display.
Please also observe the supplementary infor-
mation given there.
When rocking the car out of a hollow or starting
in deep snow or on a loose surface, it may be
advisable to switch off DSC temporarily.
To maintain driving stability, drive with
the system switched on at all times if
possible.<
Switching on DSC again
Press the DSC button; the indicator light in the
instrument cluster goes out.
You can also switch DSC on and off via the
button on the steering wheel, see MDrive on
page 43.
Malfunction in the driving stability

control systems

If the warning light for the brake system
comes on, in conjunction with the indi-
cator lights for ABS and DSC and a
message appears on the control dis-
play: driving stability control and ABS
have failed. Normal brake action is not
affected – no restrictions. Drive with
care, looking at the traffic situation well
ahead, and avoid heavy brake applications.
Have the system checked as soon as possible.
If the DSC warning light comes on: DSC
including MDM and DBC is malfunc-
tioning. Stabilising action and brake
servo boost are no longer available. The vehicle

remains operational. Have the system checked
as soon as possible.
Electronic Damping Control
EDC
The principle
If parameters such as road surface quality or
operating conditions such as steering, braking
etc. change, the damping automatically adapts
to the changed circumstances in a fraction of a
second.
You can choose between three programs.
"Comfort" program
Select the "Comfort" program if you prefer
comfort-oriented shock absorber and steering
settings.
"Normal" program
The "Normal" program strikes a balance
between the Comfort and Sport program.
"Sport" program
Select the "Sport" program if you prefer overtly
sporty shock absorber and steering settings.
Selecting program
Press the EDC button repeatedly:
>
"Comfort": none of the LEDs in the button
are lit.
>
"Normal": one LED in the button is lit.
>
"Sport": both LEDs in the button are lit.
Each time the engine is started, the program
last selected is active.
