5.11.2 WireLeSS diStribution
SYStem (WdS).
Wireless Distribution System (WDS) is a method
to extend a wireless network using multiple
Access Points (AP). Use the Wireless Distribu-
tion System (WDS) menu to share a single WAN
connection over great distances.
WARNING: WDS can have a drastic impact on
802.11 Wi-Fi performance when used with mul-
tiple Access Points. CradlePoint devices have
been tested to work using other CradlePoint
devices and cannot be guaranteed to work with
3rd party vendors. Requirements:
• C radlePoint Firmware 1.1 or later for the
MBR1000
• 2 WDS Compatible Devices (Document as-
sumes 2 CradlePoint Devices)
• F ull HTML Browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer,
Safari, Opera, etc.)
Step 1: Change LAN IP. To enable WDS, you will
need to change some settings in configurations
of the repeater router and WAN connected
router. First, connect to the unit that will function as the repeater by typing its IP address in a browser (default IP address for the MBR1000 192.168.0.1).
Go to the sub-menu. Change the IP address of this unit to
