    Verifying printer setup Once all hardware and software options are installed and the printer is turned on, verify that the printer is set up correctly by printing the following: • Menu settings page—Use this page to verify that all printer options are installed correctly.     Insert the Software and Documentation CD, and then double-click the software installer package. Follow the instructions on the computer screen. Using the World Wide Web Go to the Lexmark Web site at www.lexmark.com. From the Drivers & Downloads menu, click Driver Finder. Select your printer, and then select your operating system.

    Internal Solutions Port When a new Lexmark Internal Solutions Port (ISP) is installed in the printer, the printer configurations on computers that access the printer must be updated since the printer will be assigned a new IP address. All computers that access the printer must be updated with this new IP address.

    Loading paper and specialty media Setting the paper size and type The Paper Size setting is automatically sensed according to the position of the paper guides in each tray except the multipurpose feeder. The Paper Size setting for the multipurpose feeder must be set manually from the Paper Size menu.

    Loading the standard or optional 550-sheet tray The printer has a standard 150-sheet (Tray 1) and 250-sheet tray (Tray 2), and it may have one or more optional 550-sheet trays. All 550-sheet trays support the same paper sizes and types. CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: To reduce the risk of equipment instability, load each paper drawer or tray separately.
  • Page 71 Make sure to release the width guide lock at the rear of the tray. Squeeze and then slide the width guide to the correct position for the paper size you are loading. Note: Always use the width guide lock at the rear of the tray to prevent the margins from being knocked out of adjustment.

Consider these characteristics when evaluating new paper stock. Weight The printer can automatically feed paper weights from 60 to 220 g/m (16 to 58 lb bond) grain long. Paper lighter than 60 g/m (16 lb) might not be stiff enough to feed properly, causing jams.

This content provides the paper with a high degree of stability resulting in fewer paper feeding problems and better print quality.     As an environmentally conscious company, Lexmark supports the use of recycled office paper produced specifically for use in laser and LED (electrophotographic) printers. However, no blanket statement can be made that all recycled paper will feed well.
