Navigating Menus and Entering Data

To navigate menus and enter data, follow these tips:
After 20 seconds of inactivity, the menu system automatically exits to the idle
screen unless an edit session is in progress.
If you want to...
Enter the main menu
Exit the main menu and return
to the idle screen
Exit the Main Menu or
Directories menu
Return to the previous menu
Cancel the current task or edit
session
Scroll through lists
Select a menu item
Enter text
Enter numbers, uppercase
characters, or lowercase
characters
Enter special characters
Then do this...
Press .
Press .
Press the Exit soft key.
Press the Back soft key.
Press the Cancel soft key.
Press or .
When lists appear on more than one page, press
the * key to Page Up, or press the # key to Page
Down.
Do one of the following:
• Scroll to the menu item, and then press
.
• Scroll to the menu item, and then press the
Select soft key.
• Press the dial pad key that corresponds to
the item in the numbered menu list.
For example, to select the second item in a
menu, press 2.
Press the dial pad keys one or more times.
For example, to enter 'A,' press 2. To enter 'C,'
press 222.

Press the soft key one or more times to
select numerical, uppercase, or lowercase
mode, and then press the dial pad keys one or
more times.
Do the following:
• Press the * and # keys one or more times.
• Press the 1/A/a soft key to select uppercase
or lowercase mode, and then press the 1 or
0 keys one or more times.
